SDCC 2014 - Kotobukiya Play Arts

It's the time of the year again for another San Diego Comic Con 2014. There's a whole lot of things to show and watch here from cosplay, video games, movies, toys and collectibles alike. First, I would like to show some of the upcoming toys from Kotobukiya.

Big Boss needs some vacation from all these wars.
When Snake turns into human torch, you ain't wanna mess with him.
Most guys are speechless and quiet when they saw QUIET.

Now this ain't a fantasy no more once you tasted my arrow.
Interchangable skull face head. That's new for a Play Arts figure.

This ain't any rabbit years that you have ever seen before.

Hot Toys 1/6 Groot Guardians of The Galaxy

What do you call a tree that looks like a root? Well, that's easy!! It's Groot from the Guardian of the Galaxy. For some reasons, it reminds me of Tree Beard from Lord of the Rings universe.
I need to bend my neck to peek on you.
I've been think. I am Groot?
I am Groot and not Root
Climb me will ya?
Hmm...I am Groot
My smile is precious
The dentist is here, say 'ARgggghhh...!!'
You rascal stop pinching my back will ya...?!!
I need no anger management
Fire in the hole!
 Rocket is tiny,...I am Groot

A 3D movie will need stuff floating in our faces. Well, this will solve the problem.

Don't make me angry when I'm angry Mr.Maggie

Hot Toys 1/6 Rocket Guardians of the Galaxy

Hi! I'm Rocket aka Bradley. Don't Ask why I'm rocket or I'll shoot you in the as*!
Darn this is heavy and my little skinny branch right arms can barely hold it.
 Now that's more like it.

Hey! Mr.Director gimme some slow-mo camera shots will ya?

This is all there is, so don't stare and just buy it!

Takara Tomy 1/35 Transformer DMK-03 Age of Extinction Optimus Prime

We have seen the DMK-01 of the original Optimus Prime some years back now and with the recent release of Age of Extinction, Takara Tomy is back with the new DMK-03 of the complete redesign of Optimus Prime body armour.

The original DMK-01 looks fantastic upon complete building it up the pre painted model but most of the joints and parts are extremely loose. Hence, posing it too much will very likely to break it. If Takara Tomy is hearing this, please do give us a better product and we will love you for it.
One advantage on this model kit is the pre painted colour scheme which is quite good and it does safe us the time to do painting which is rather time consuming.
The included accesories are the sword and shield which looks quite decent. My guess it might also have an alternate head similar to its predecessor.
Since it's a DMK (Dual Model Kit), there will certainly be an inner frame which reminds me of most MG Gundam models. I really enjoy the latter but DMK is way behind of what Bandai has achieved. Hopefully, it will all be changed is this new release of DMK-03.
Oh wow you can pose in such away? Cool but let's find out when the time comes.
I realize that Optimus Prime has a brand new 'breast' plate or chest plate. This is huge departure in design where feminine is the new masculine!
I always wonder why Optimus Prime needs a sword with all the others has so much fire power.

NECA 18" Master Chief Halo 3 Action Figure

We have seen a lot of Master Chief toys and collectible iterations from 7" to 18" but we have yet to see it in this armour and as detail as what NECA is about to offer. Here's an early work in progress pictures recently released by NECA.

The Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 armour comes with battle damage on its right side of the chest body armour which is cool. It seems to include the rifle machine gun and a hand gun.
I really hope that this figure will stand as good as the Gipsy Danger 18" figure rather than the earlier Mark VII Ironman figure which is also in the same large scale figure that NECA has been selling very well these days.
I guess we will be getting to see this figure with it fully painted in the upcoming ComicCon 2014. The crucial part is getting the paint right and master chief visor accurate to the Halo game character. It's also important that NECA exercise a higher quality control so that we won't see too much paint defects, scuffs and scratches on the new figure which were quite apparent on the other early 1/4 scale figures.
So far, we have yet to see a stand for its 1/4 scale figures. NECA please hear us as we are still waiting.
 Pose, Aim and Shoot, Shoot!!!
Lastly, they might not be any light up feature by the looks of this figure but with its accesories included I guess it's justify enough for us to get this baby!
