Hobby World 2016 at MAEPS

We are back from Hobby World 2016 which was held for 2 days from 30/7/2016 till 31/7/2016 at MAEPS, Serdang. It was quite a nice little trip with a little bit of everything thrown in the expo. The hobby stuff which were displayed are Hoverboards, Gundams, Lego, Papercraft, 3D printers, Custom Builders, Hot Wheels, Remote Controlled Drones/Cars, toys, Custom Boats, model kits and much more. It was interesting that the model kits community is still strong as there are a few display showing off jet fighters, tanks and dioramas which were pretty amazing.

When we arrive, it started raining and by the time we exit the expo, the rain had stop which was quite fortunate for us. There was a mini zoo too but we had to skip as our 5 months old son was getting tired. The exhibitors were very friendly and readily there to inform the public about their passion and some tips of how to achieve those great looking model kits. Be sure to watch our video coverage at the bottom of this page and please do leave us your comment, if any.

Hot Toys 1/6 Scale Dr.Strange Action Figure

Nowadays, a lot of times we are introduced with movie based toys and collectibles before even the actual premiere of these films. Well, Dr.Strange 1/6 scale action figure from Hot Toys is one example.

So far Marvel super heroes films roll out has been tremendous success. Who would have thought Antman and Deadpool would be a big hit as these are little known characters and only comic fans would appreciate from the Marvel comics.

When Marvel unveiled recently the new Dr.Strange trailer, we are quite interested but not too excited maybe due to the 'inception' city folding effects which we already familiar. Frankly, Benedict Cumberbatch is a great actor and he has some hypnotic mannerism somewhat we love to watch in his other films. Nevertheless, let us just have an early look at Dr. Strange by Hot Toys.

Hot Toys Iron Man Mark VI Diecast MMS 1/6 scale Action Figure

When Hot Toys releases their Mark 45, they have seen a dead end in their money generating powerhouse Iron Man action figures line. In the interim while awaiting Avengers 3 release, there won’t be any more interesting Iron Man suits available. There are several more suits which Hot Toys has yet to reveal based on the House Party Protocol as shown in the Iron Man 3 film but there are not of high demand as these suits were hardly visible in the film. It would be a hard time to sell them in high demand as these non popular figures seems to be dropping in price erratically.

In order to reinvent the Iron Man action figures line, Hot Toys is now rolling out some of the best Iron Man suits in diecast form replacing the already obsolete plastic version. Frankly, plastic action figures will eventually deteriorate and hopefully do not disintegrate into the thin air. The problem with these so called diecast figures, it seems Hot Toys are short changing us with little or barely any identifiable diecast used throughout the figure.(E.g. Hot Toys Iron Man Mark III).

The worst part about Iron Man Mark III diecast were the lack of articulation and poseability. We sincerely hope that the upcoming Iron Man Mark VI diecast MMS version will not replicate all these shortcomings. We do know that Hot Toys often go for the quick buck and opt for the same defective material and short comings in their new updated figures based on old mold. (E.g. the new and old ED-209 inferior rubber material used above the mech’s top section)

All we want to say as collectors is if Hot Toys is going to re-release an updated version of any figures, please improve upon it and don’t just give us nice surface detailing and paint work only as we know diecast prices are no freakin cheap stuff to purchase..Think about us the collectors and not your margin.

Hot Toys at San Diego ComicCon - SDCC 2016

Yes it's SDCC all over again and each year Hot Toys will show its muscles and execute their immensely huge fishing net to reel in collectors' interest for their next action figure PreOrders. This year Marvel, DC and Disney are making a big splash with their movie based 1/6 scale action figures from Batman v Superman, The Suicide Squad, Captain America and Star Wars. There are certainly a lot to collect if you are an all rounder 1/6 collector.

You practically have to break your bank or maybe join Joker's squad to rob one if need be to continue the ever expanding pop culture collectibles. Frankly, we have reached the pinnacle of the golden age in Toys collecting. There was never a period that there is so much toy collectibles roll out so consistently in so short period of time.

Perhaps we just need to concentrate what matters most and prioritise our purchases. For now, we just want to admire those pretty looking adult dolls here.
